I bet there's a ton of guys on here who fish, and I bet there's more than a few in the US who use beautiful custom built bass rods, I've drooled over some of the handle/butt designs on the US custom websites.
Does anyone here do any custom work on rods yourselves?
I'd love to see a few, but here's my lowly attempt.
I bought a pair of lovely blanks that were calling out for super slim cork handles, so I built them and added my own little quirky twist to the butt, to match the gloss black finish on the blank.
I turned a pair of cups on my midi lathe from some oak, to match the diameter and curve of the glass marbles. Then I scarified one face of the marble with a diamond cutter and glued them into the cup and onto the handles with 2 part epoxy.
