LM Power Input Effects

I ran a sacrificial run on my new LM column recently, (after a vinegar clean) and was using the opportunity to try to learn a bit about the operation of it.
See This Post for pics and video. In the video, I was running at 100% power on my insulated digiboil (1500W) and got very near azeo and was happy with the abv.
Since the takeoff speed is controlled by the needle valve, what effect does running at higher and lower power settings on the boiler have? I have a 10KW SCR controller so I can fine tune, but I don't really know what I am looking for when I fine tune. Will max ABV start to drop off with too low power and a given take off speed? My reflux condenser can easily handle the entire 1500W, so should I just run flat-out assuming I don't care about power costs?
What are the downsides of running flat out?
