I wanted to ask the HD population, about his statment:
*
Something I try to do is pay attention to that mashing rule about No less than 1.5 quarts of water for every pound of grain.
*
Well I went back into my spread sheets and see that at times I am doing much more than 1.5 gt per pound.
I wanted to ask what is the effect or result if you have say 2 qts per lb of grain.
I checked one of my versions of HBB and seems I have 2.6 qts per lb of grain.
I checked on jumbo wheat and its 1.78
looks like i am way over most of the time, what effect ?
i try to use the minimal water to boil and get good conversion of corn, then use the remainder to cool it off trying to get down to 148 for additinal grains or lower to add yeast. with the total volume limit set by my ferment vessel.
Any thoughts or clarification. limiting the recipes to Tried and True.
Old Thread from NCHooch the 1.5 rule. QUESTIONS.
