Hello from the Midwest

Post by Blue Chip »

Hello, about six years ago I finally decided to try my hand at distilling, which brought me to this site. I had no prior experience. So I did what was recommended by so many here. Read, read, and then read some more. I started out making a 2” cu pot still from a design here and modifying a beer keg. I run electric and built a controller. First wash was shady’s sugar then went all grain thanks to HBB and have primarily stayed the course of all grain.

Since then I purchased a jacketed boiler and have made a small gin boiler, a thumper setup, and many other pieces to support this hobby. I have grown some heirloom corn and got into fruit brandies.

I mainly make bourbon style whiskies and age in Gibbs barrels ranging from 3 to 10 gallon. Living in the grain belt of America I am fortunate to have access to buy and grow grain along with some fruit.

Thanks to everyone on this forum and to those that make it happen. I owe a lot of my success to this place.
Thanks!!
