Liebig operation anomalies

Post by Alzahra888 »

Hey there, it’s been more than two years since learning here from you how to build and operate a liebig. It has reliably knocked down everything my butane can fire up.

At 184cm, [Edit: 3/8” inside a 3/4”] copper pipe, water entering 16cm from the spout and exiting 4cm from the lyne arm. I can gush water through there if i need to.

Yesterday i stripped and again today. Two nearly identical days for the leibig except a slightly harder run today with a new gas bottle.

To maximize steam and not cold crash my condensate i usually operate with enough water that the first half of the length of tube is piping hot. The second half reliably takes care of the job.

But today unless i push water flow rapidly some steam insists on exiting along with the cold liquid. To be clear I cannot sustain anything less than a fully cold 180cm of tube. Reducing the water flow so that some first few centimeters past the water exiting the jacket would remain warm automatically leads to some uncondensed steam at the other end.

Yes I am stripping hard, harder than yesterday but in my mind, this still doesnt add up.

Somewhere between hurry up and time is irrelevant.

Knowledge might be expensive or cheap, but information is always costly.
