Queens run

Thank you for the idea Mooseman. For those that don't know, as I didn't until a few days ago, a queens run is a spirit run using feints. Doing a little research I found that some craft distilleries are doing them and selling the result as a special bottle. As the still if running on my run I don't know yet if my bottles will be that special or not.

There are not any real rules I could find. So you could do a run with just whiskey feints and I am sure your result would be a good whiskey. Same with rum or brandy feints.

For me this particular run is going to be a Rumbrandski. I believe the feints I used would have been from 5 whiskey runs, all variations of a bourbon, and one apple brandy run. I don't go as deep into my tails as I probably should at the end of a spirit run, usually been at it 8 to 10 hrs and I am mentally done at that point. That leaves my feints in the 65% abv range. Since I had 3 extra gallons of a rum wash sitting in a car boy I used that to dilute the feints down. I then added a bit of water just as insurance the boiler element would stay covered.

My final "recipe" was
5 gallon feints at 64%
3 gallons rum wash at 8.5%
1 gallon of water.

I am about done with the still for this season. Summer is coming on and I have other things to attend to. But I do have another 5 gallons of this batch of feints so next season I may try cooking 4 gallons of a corn based beer and use that to dilute some more feints making it a branski with a small b as the brandy component would be quite small.
