1 year in the making

Just opened my 10 litre barrel of UJSM at the start of the month, its been aged for exactly 1 year.
I was exceedingly happy with the results, similar in taste to a bourbon (I put maple sticks in the barrel with it hoping for that extra sweet tang).
Was well worth the wait.
Now, to try a full grain mash
Thanks to Uncle Jesse for the UJSM recipe, it was a great success and I am glad I waited a year to enjoy it.

Well done, it's a good feeling when you produce your first drinkable batch.

Hehehe, yes, it was hard waiting a year, and the worst part is, I've used all 10 litres up already (I had to give bottles to all my friends so they could enjoy it
).
1 year to age, 1 week to appreciate.
Still, distilling off first batch of a grain mash, very different smell to the UJSM (I guess thats the barley influence), a few more to go till I can do a second run and barrel that up and wait another year.

Ah damn you
This is giving me the urge to build a potstill.... Before my reflux is even welded... I think I'll make both at the same time

How big a barrels do other people use?
If I had my own house (still a renter) I think I'd get a very large one and keep distilling till I could fill it. 10 Litres just wasn't enough.

not to good of an idea barrels should be filed all the way. and all at once.

Hmm, so I'd need a LOT of bottles/jugs to hold distillate till I had enough...
Long term plan however, after I build my own little distillery area of course, with some lifts, moving 60 litre fermenters gets tiring.
