Mexican barrels

Has anybody tried barrels from Online Kegs & Barrels?

Have heard that many Mex kegs have paint, varnish and glue inside. Have no personal verification on this though.

Just my 2 cents.
It has been my experience, that you get what you pay for when buying barrels...(I wished I could afford Gibbs)
I personally have found the ones from milehidistilling work pretty good and are reasonably priced.I'm using a 5lt and a 10 ltr.
Their barrels have a med char and do not contain wax or a finish that can end up in your final product.
I was just on their site and they have them on sale right now.

bought a couple of the 1000 oaks barrels, they're garbage.
not sure where they'r emade.

I'm a woodworker/finisher and if a barrel has finish on the inside it should not be used to contain a consumable. Varnishes contain many heavy metals such as those found in Japan Drier. New finishes are even more likely to render the barrel useless as most of them "off gas" some serious toxins. I would stay away from any barrel that had finish on the inside or outside. I work to hard getting the nasties out of my spirit to ruin it by putting it into a potentially contaminated barrel.

have used barrel source and am not quite happy with the product, but the coustomer service was very well handled. i am going to try
http://www.mardelsouza.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow this time to se what will be. i talked to the guy and he said just tell him your specifications and it will be so. i will be getting the brass hoops with brass spigot. however the smaller the barrel the thirstier the angels.
