brewers yeast is used as a supplement. it is the yeast left after a ferment.

Look at Sams or your favorite bulk retailer, usually next to the spices or in the baking aisle. It looks like a brick of coffee, but usually in a white package. A lot of people around here swear by it.

i get flieshman's active dry yeast in kilo blocks for 4.95 at the local wholesale place called cash n carry... at that price you can boil cups of the stuff for yeast bombs.... i start my ferments with a tablespoon and it takes of like crazy...maybe a bit yeasty flavor carries across which i like... i think it's a rum flavor... i also use super start distillers yeast ..

I use 1 - 2 tablespoons per gallon depending on how fast I want the ferment to complete... I prefer 2 tbsp per gallon because I'm impatient...
