An organic compound with chemical formula C<sub>5</sub>H<sub>4</sub>O<sub>2</sub>. A major component of [[Fusel_oil|fusel oils]] which are concentrated in the [[tails]] during [[distillation]]. It is a colorless oily liquid with the odor of almonds, which quickly darkens when exposed to air.
