A mash tun is a vessel used for created cooked [[mash]]es. Generally these are large, [[stainless steel]] vessels which are [[steam jacketed]] and have rods to agitate the mash. Mash tuns are used to keep the mash at a consistent steeping temperature to facilitate a maximum amount of [[starch conversion]] to [[sugar]]s.
