Tall annual cereal grass bearing kernels on large ears: widely cultivated in America in many varieties; the principal cereal in Mexico and Central and South America since pre-Columbian times.
High in starch content, corn is widely used in distillation for spirits including all American whiskies and scotch.
Unlike barley and other grains, corn-based whiskies are more widely enjoyed as virgin spirits.
