All tails liquor, especially from [[Grain|grain]] [[Mash|mashes]], is usually strong on flavor when run through a [[Pot_still|pot still]]. All tail liquor can stand up to heavy [[Oak_barrel|oaking]] without being overpowered by the wood flavors.

Feints is a loose term. In the US feints is synonymous with the tails. In Scotland feints refers to both the heads and tails. Other country's terms vary.

The term is also applied to the first and last runnings from the Patent Still, in which process they are returned to the wash for re-distillation.
 
The feints and foreshots from the last distillation of the season are kept for adding to the first low wines of the succeeding season.
