Liqueur from Dijon, France. Blackcurrant; Appelation Controlee from 1923. Must contain 15% alcohol by volume; blackcurrants macerated in neutral spirits or brandy for two months. First produced in 1841.

It's used a lot to make Kir (a little bit of cassis mixed with foam wine), Kir Royale is made with Champagne.
