Fireball Recipe
ok guys so i been working on a good fireball recipe for my friends and i finally created a great one. First start off with some 180 proof or better liquor. to be honest i used some of my heads from my second run of some good whiskey i been making. I let it air out to cut down on the chemical smell. I just did a small batch that was a simple experiment and it was great. here is the list of supplies.
1 pint of 180proof or better liquor.
2- .125fl oz vials of cinnamon oil. (found in walmart in the craft section for making your own wedding cakes and candies and such)
2 cups of sugar
2 cups of water
Add the vials of oil to the 180 proof alcohol. Mix until all the oil is mixed with the liquor. You can take a very small taste now but its EXTREMELY strong and will probably have you running for water.
Next make up a simple syrup of the water and sugar and make sure its completely dissolved. Now here is where you have to adjust to your taste. you will notice you have alot more syrup then liquor. Put liquor into a larger container and slowly start adding syrup to fit your taste. i like a strong cinnamon taste so i like a little more liquor then syrup but thats just me. And thats it. just chill if you wish and you have a good solid fireball whiskey. depending on your mix it should finish at around 100-80 proof. Have fun fellas.

Re: Fireball Recipe
If you would like to try making it with actual cinnamon sticks. Find the Fire piss thread. The good thing about it is. You don't have to keep buying cinnamon oil. Just top the jar up with high ABV spirits. And it will be ready for the next batch.

I saw that one. Does it matter the kind of cinnamon sticks you use or does it matter.

Re: Fireball Recipe
Are you referring to cinnamon versus cassia? In the stores at least in the US when you go to the spice section you buy one type of cinnamon stick.

Re: Fireball Recipe
I have now tried three different cinnamon sticks from 3 different places. And each are different. The one I used for the original post. That I get from the Mexican section of the store. Is the only one consistent. As in where ever I buy it. It is the same. Other cinnamon sticks however are not consistent. One ended up smelling and tasting like cinnamon Apple. Took on a red color. The other turned out hot cinnamon hot with a woody taste. All are good. But it tells me. Not all cinnamon sticks are the same. And I am on the lookout for more to play with.
Even though I am happy with all that I have tried. I still recommend the ones I used in the original recipe. They can be found in just about any store that has a good Mexican food selection.

Re: Fireball Recipe
OK, I tried this and love the flavor. Well I actually cut the recipe in half.
One small problem and I am not sure how to "clear" it up.
It turned white. As white as milk. So now I am stuck with the thought of adding some red food coloring to this, or leave it white but the white just does not seem right. Thoughts? I can post a picture if anyone wants to see.

Re: Fireball Recipe
I did not use the cinnamon sticks, I used a .125 vial of Cinnamon Oil from wal-mart as per the original directions by the OP.
It tastes just like a fireball. I added 4 drops of red food coloring to it after I post that picture. Now it is the same color as a Fireball also.
Seems the milk color only happens when it is chilled, I had that bottle in the fridge. I have another 2 half pint bottles, while not clear they are not the color of milk at room tempature. However I bet once it is chilled that it will remain white even when brought back to room temp.

YeAh it wasn't till I chilled mine that it turned white. I'm pretty sure its a reaction with the oil and water. I will work on how to clear it but its pretty good. I guess if you could look past it looks like milk its a great tasting drink

Re: Fireball Recipe
It's the oils. You could try adding the cinnamon oil to a higher ABV alcohol. Then dilute down. After it had time to mix good. But you will more then likely still have the problem.

I am going to test with extract instead of oil. It will take 3x the extract but might keep it clear.

Re: Fireball Recipe
I'm telling you. You should try the fire piss method. It won't be colorless. But it won't be cloudy. Basically your making your own essence.

Re: Fireball Recipe
PP gave me a great starting point with Firepiss. I followed his recipe with 90% ABV with 4 pieces of cinnamon and let er go about a month. I used two parts cin likker with one part simple syrup, one part water. It was a little sweet for me, so I cut one part Firepiss with one part oaked sweetfeed. That was the ticket. Fire Oak! Really tastey at 45% ABV. Thanks for the recipe PP. It's a winner.
