I just started a 4 gallon batch of Rads All Bran last night.
I have been reading on this forum about using Boiled Yeast and how it speeds up your ferment time,
but I didn't know enough about it and was nervous about trying it. Until now.
I followed Rads "Best of the Best" final recipe for All Bran. I had some wine yeast that was a slow performer so I boiled that and added it when I pitched my yeast. I also added a Tbsp of yeast nutrient instead of 20 20 20, crushed a daily vitamin, and a B Complex. I aerated for a few minutes, then washed and sanitized a lid for my Ale Pale and covered it. Then washed and sanitized an airlock and installed it.
I then added distilled water to the airlock and voila! Bubbles!
It wasn't 20 minute's after pitching the yeast when I saw vigorous activity. At this rate it shold be ready in 3 to 4 days!
Very excited and will use boiled yeast from now on!
