Any wine which has been allowed to complete the final phase of its fermentation in the bottle so that the carbon dioxide produced is trapped within. A carbonated wine, on the other hand, is a still wine that has been artificially carbonated by infusing carbon dioxide into the wine before or during the bottling process. See still wine for contrast.
