Re: Disappointed by the bad information
There is no watchdogs to keep people on track. That is the beauty of a forum. If someone gives wrong or misinformed information there are others with experience to challenge the what is being said. YouTube has a place on wiFi and I use it when someone demonstrates a how to video on appliances but I ...

Re: Grain Mills
I decided on the MMII over the MM3 after reading information here and on other brewing sites. The part that made up my mind was the 3 rollers would clog with hole corns.

Re: Grain Mills
I too have a hand wound mill and it's not so much the effort or the grind that bothers me, I would just like to get one that doesn't make a mess. I mounted my Corona mill inside a bucket to contain the mess. It’s been working quite well for me, and cost very little. It’s not the fastest, but it get...

Re: Shrimping and fishing
Going down to the boat tomorrow to get it set up for the opening of shrimping season this weekend. We have a 3 day opening. With 4 licenses we should boat close to 1000 shrimp.

Re: Anyone have a copycat recipe for Gator Bite Satsuma rum?
As NZ mentioned you should be able through a couple trials get close. Just a quick search I found that it is bottled at 30 percent and as the label indicates the Satsuma juice is combined with Bayou rum. Thus a little more research and you should get pretty close. On another note, I have never tried...

I taught Design Engineering and had a CNC machine, a 3D printer, and a laser printer. If all you want to make is plaques you might look at laser printers.

I did the same thing with mine. Also made a backup just in case it fails at some point in time. Mine is a 6” diameter that covers my 5 gallon milk bucket that I use for gin.

Re: Is brass safe in a fermentation vessel?
I agree with Yummy on using PVC mainly due to cost. After having said that I went from Carboy’s to 6 gallon plastic fermenting buckets and siphon into the boiler so no valves involved. I have never used the large fermenting vessels others on the forum use mainly due to a large portable cart I have i...

Re: Meade Consumption on the Viking series
Not sure how many have seen this show? My wife and I are on about the middle of season 5. Anyway, I'm calling BS on the sloppy way in which these dudes are pouring the Meade. These guys are spilling more than they drink. Also, so far not one mention of the process in spite of how frequently they dr...

Re: PNW to NZ transplant
Welcome Don. I think you’ll have a lot of fun in this hobby. Gin’s the easiest thing in the world to make in small doses. If you head down the path of aged spirits it helps to have a larger still so you can make more in one go. Good luck out there. What’s PNW? Welcome, I don’t know anyone that has ...
