Re: Rinsing salt
I had the same problem. I happened to have a garden pressure sprayer. the hose fit over 1/4 " pipe perfectly. I filled it with hot water, and pumped up the pressure and left it for about 2 hours. It was done perfectly when I checked it.

Re: Dry beer enzyme > Gluco amylase?
I have had bad flooding in my area for the last couple of weeks. Mail has been "unpredictable" but I received my dry enzymes yesterday and the dry beer enzyme is indeed glucoamylase. (no where online did they feel the need to include that information in the item description) I did my first...

Re: Dry beer enzyme > Gluco amylase?
They are just not easily available, And shipping from the US is usually many times the cost of the product. I have to hunt around to even find malted grain in any homebrew stores in my area.

Re: Dry beer enzyme > Gluco amylase?
I am going to use malt in my mashes for now, but I am also going to experiment with an all corn mash using dry enzymes, I will split the batch in half after mashing, one half getting the added dry beer enzyme at yeast pitch. Any noticeable difference in FG will show if it has any validity.

Dry beer enzyme > Gluco amylase?
I am wanting to make a corn mash. being in Australia liquid enzymes are spoken of in hushed tones. I want to try a pure corn wash and not have to resort to malted barley for starch conversion. The only easily available alpha amylase is the 4g dry powder satchels (still spirits and the like) beta or ...

Re: Store Bought Flavoring- Whats hot & whats not
I am trying my first whiskey effort, now while It started out as a Cornflake, oat and bran mash, I used bourbon barrel chips to flavour (now at 1 month old) and it turned out quite well, even at 110% proof (my cask strength) it is smooth and has a good bourbon taste, however the taste is all in the b...

Re: My rum is absolutely disgusting.
My First effort at rum (3.5kg brown sugar, 2.2kg blackstrap mollasses in a 25 liter wash) is only a month old and still oaking (at 120 proof),I realised after stilling that I have never actually tasted a white rum before  , So I had no idea of what I was starting with. but I tasted it after a...

Re: gin blends
I just finished my first run of gin today, I stilled 50 liters of birdwatchers down to 3.5 liters of neutral. Then I detuned my essencia still, ripped out the packing and made a tube out of stainless mesh which I inserted in place of the packing, after loading it with my basic botanical mix (juniper...

Hello all
Let me start off by saying this site is a wonderful asset. A couple of weeks reading on here and the results of many many years of trial and error (and successes) are right there and are available to anyone who wishes to try distilling themselves. I have brewed beer for about a decade, and have alwa...

That would have to be a serious rolling boil, to be able to puke corn into the output
