Re: Planning ahead for my graduation, what would you drink?
When I had my graduation party a few years ago I made Caribou Lou. I borrowed my lax teams water cooler and filled it with 2 bags of ice, 4 fifths of 151, 4 handles of Mali Coconut, and 15 cans of pineapple juice. It filled the gatorade cooler 4/5th to the top and was finished by the end of the nig...

Don't you find that building and discussing such matters is also part of the pleasure of the hobby experience? Absolutely But the price of copper is Outrageous 20 dollars for a 2 inch Tee But i did find that 2 inch copper fittings are cheaper then butt weld 2 inch sanitary fittings... at least at a...

Re: thumpificator
THe cost of copper fittings that size are ridiculous
In fact I bet if someone was going to buy 2 inch copper tubing, fittings, keg, and everything needed to make their still they could buy one for the same price or cheaper off brewhaus or mile high

Re: New POT STILL
Nice work, rowdy. That's my kind of still. :) That coil will work wonderfully. I only have twelve feet of 3/4" and the distillate comes out stone motherless cold, and best of all - living in central Victoria - it only uses a litre, maybe two of water per run. Winter in MIchigan Pack snow in th...

Re: New POT STILL
you can also put it in a vice... If your using oxy/act because the copper will transfer the majority of the heat... if your using 2 inch or bigger... in my experience mapp just doesn't get it hot enough / takes to much time to get it to heat Be carefull using a vice them fittings will smash easily....

Re: Cutting and shutting 2 kegs?
A better option is just to find a bigger keg. This one is 100 litres :D http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr1/myles457/pot/Photo0050.jpg You can get a 150 litre one very very occasionally. Ive never seen a full Keg in the states... and im a keg connoisseur a 1/2 barrel is 58 liters It would be a t...

Re: New POT STILL
Are you going for flavor?? if you are, dont get discouraged by the ABV figures the reflux guys get. I have got 90+% with a boka, but I like the pot better. I enjoy the fact that the take off tube is well away from the heat source. Be safe. I made it for distilling rum. use an offset head for reflux...

Re: New POT STILL
First, buy a different kit. Re-do the test. Second, if it has lead, go see the bloke who sold you the solder, and do what you need. At least get your money back for the solder before you wring his neck. At this point you can focus your anger on the bloke that caused it. Third, make sure you have pl...

Re: Can you have too many buckets?
I've been looking around on craigslist, hoping to come across some glass carboys that need a good home. I DID find a guy with 500+ food grade 6 gallon buckets. They were originally used to hold pickles, and I was wondering how easy it would be to get rid of the pickle odor, but for the price, it wa...

Re: EC-1118 Questions
So I've made two more washes, and used the 1118, first time I set the room temperature at 72, still same thing long time and bad smell, dumped it, clean bucket and soaked in water-bleach mix, second one I wrapped some heat tracing wire around the bottom of the bucket and it held at 85 perfectly. It...

rowd...they are pretty common on this forum, there's a lot of info on em. if yer searching, use "tri-clamp." they actually use gaskets, not orings, and the best part is that you can get them in teflon, so the plastic cops don't mess with you. i have soldered all of mine with 56% hard silv...
