Re: ==RYE!!==

Excellent. Found this thread looking for a rye recipe. Think I am going try it. I have never done an AG without malted barley before so that will be different. At first I was appalled at the mop bucket mash tub, then I realized its potential as a strainer. Genius idea. What's the preference for ferm...

Re: ==RYE!!==

The recipe above calls for 2 emzymes. The first a high temp alpha amylase. Used during or after cooking the unmalted grains. The second a low temp gluco amylase used after mashing in the malted rye. This is a 6 gallon mash so just follow instructions for each emzyme. Probably 1 tsp for powdered or 5...

Re: Great tasting UJSSM

Strip and spiritrun with a pot, i assume..? I strip ran the first wash to get the backset, then hooked up my doubler for the following runs. Saved the hearts and ran the heads and tails through the next run. I was really just wanting to practice making "cuts" and watching temps as I ran. ...

Re: Search for "real corn" recipe

Hello Michigan Corn husker. I was just reading your thread on malting and drying. I am thinking about placing my corn on top of my wood boiler and maybe blow a little air over it with a Small fan. Air temp is some where between 70-80f. As for the yeast, I will add after mashing. I know little to zer...

Re: Search for "real corn" recipe

:sarcasm: To make snow malt whiskey, you must wrench the kernels from the cob, lovingly malt the corn in small batches by hand, wait for a brilliant Michigan snow storm, and harvest the snow by moonlight, melt it, and use it to make a nectar worthy of the Gods. A simple stripped down recipe, corn m...
