Looks good. At first glance/before reading on, I thought that thermos at the top was an exhaust tip (yes, I think I truly think in diesel and alcohol...)

Re: Diesel mech's on here?
We may get an influx of a few more diesel loving members here, I posted a link to the site in a private forum within the main forum I am on (private one has only about ~100 members who can access it) in a thread I posted about my new hobby. Already know one guy who said he'd probably sign up over he...

Re: Diesel mech's on here?
I bought a cummins motor. Dodge threw in a free truck. My '93 has almost 400K miles. Its never needed any engine work. My '03 dually is not such a great motor, its cost a lot already. Bad injectors.... losing bearings... The 12 valve cummins are great tho... Funny you say that. My first truck was a...

Re: Have a bottle here...
To me it doesn't look that old, (the picture quality not very good), the best people to ask are old bottle collectors/(UK)Victorian dump diggers, I was once one of those :) you examine the neck and the bottom of the bottle+thickness of the glass. recon that bottle has more sentimental value than an...

Re: Diesel mech's on here?
Not a diesel mechanic myself, though my hobby is diesel performance. Do most all of my own wrenching on my truck. It is a 94 3/4 ton dodge cummins (hey hey UGLY :P ). My stock motor put out 160/400 at the flywheel, and I have modified it up to a modest 320hp/800tq at the rear wheels. Though I am hav...

Re: Prohibition era media again
Up here stateside my buddies who drink them types of drinks (I admit, I have drank a few here and there too) were all scared a few months ago as a supposed ban on the drinks was to take an effect in January. Couple were so afraid of the ban they stocked up on them. Well in reality they did not ban t...

Re: Have a bottle here...
Any of those Los Alamos area distillers established in 1876? Any markings on the bottom of the bottle? After reading what others have replied here, I am thinking that may be a lead, as far as 1876 being the est. date of where/whoever made it, and not the actual date of the bottle. As for mor...

I did read your original post. I read where you said you would smell or taste test it even though the cork is old and appears to have deteriorated.... Once again i did NOT say you had tampered with it. Only that you shouldn't. You came and asked advice. I gave you some advice. You obviously don't l...

Re: Where'd your name come from??
This name has been my AIM name since long ago as I can remember (middle school or high school) and it has just stuck/I have never changed it.
It is my name on about every other forum I am on as well (mainly automotive/diesel forums). Used it some in online gaming as well.

If it don't belong to you, best you leave it alone rather than tamper with it. That's something that can never be undone. As far as your quest for knowledge of it's history, that's a good thing, and something your father will appreciate. It is just sitting here. I am not tampering with it. Read the...

Have a bottle here...
Just joined up, not sure if this is in the right section (mods please move to off topic if this does not belong in this section, though it very well may). Anyhow, my dad has this bottle of what I am not sure at all what it may be. Description of bottle (may be able to take and post up a picture, tho...

Re: What's the highest safe alcohol percentage to drink straight
Had some real everclear once when I was living in the midwest. Was OK mixed up with other stuff in punch, but when I went to take a tiny sip, was not all that pleased (of course this is after a night of drinking the punch) and after taking a very very tiny sip I wanted to vomit but held back from do...

Re: Cellar,Sheds,Basements,Garage??
Had to get in and start posting here! Just started this hobby myself (with my father). We have only tried our setup once, and so far it was in the back yard, surrounded by tall fences on all sides, no prying eyes. At first we had thought about runnin the setup in the garage, but opted out on that id...
