Formula for 2- 5Gal Batches Instead of Std 7+/-Gal Batch ?

I have an oppty to buy very nice 5gal glass containers with petcock about 1 inch from bottom...nice size/shape/price etc.

Wondering about how I can change my recipe to creat 2sep 5 gal washes rather than 1, 7+/- gallon wash that I presently use.

Not that I dont like the 7+/- size, just this will allow for additional batches working in procession, and the petcock will be very nice/convenient for draining to avoid siphoning.

Could I get away with a decreased sugar load in 2 sep 5 gal batches and splitting 1 pack of turbo yeast between the 2 ?? My boiler can easily run 10 gals so that is not a problem...
Thanks in advance..I confess Im no mathemetician....and I dont have enough fingers or toes to do all the ciphering to figure this one out ! LOL

Sorry but you need to be more specific on this.
we need ta know just what yer recipe is, (weights & measures), before we can scale it up or down.

If you were happy with the washes you made in a 7 gallon fermenter, and you wish to make the same quality in the five gallon fermenters, simply multiply each ingredient you used in a 7 gallon fermenter by 0.71 to get a reduction in recipe size for a 5 gallon fermenter.

I'd follow the yeast package directions to determine how well the yeast would work.

Ok- primary recipe calls for 8kg sugar & +/- 21 liter water to produce 20% in 25 liter wash in 5 days w/ Alcotec 8 (pack=200g)

With Alcotec 48 (135g packet), calls for 21 liter water, 6kg sugar-25 liter wash @ 14% in 48 hours OR 8kg sugar, 21 liter water - 25 liter wash@20% in 5 days

Vodkastar (66kg pack) for 25Liter wash @14% , 21 liter water, 6kg sugar in 5 days....

Sorry I left out the details...But trying to determine if I can reduce sugar or water, split yeast pack and create 2/ 5 gal (19 liter) washes ??

I have a feeling the answer will be..Dont cut corners ..use 1 yeast per 5 gal wash....but just wonder if I can split the yeast pack... Thanks

You can split the yeast packs, but you are also splitting the nutrients between two fermenters. You are not splitting them in half but making 1.42 times the total wash volume. You may not notice much of a difference but one way to be sure is to add a 1/3 to 1/2 of a 6 oz. can of tomato paste to each fermenter when you split the yeast. Splitting the yeast isn't a problem because it will catch up, the problem is splittin the nutrients. Add the tomato paste and you'll be fine.

this may be a stupid ? but do you just take a big spoon and take the lump of tomato and dump it in there ? or do you somehow stir it up in the wash or something ??

Ya should try ta mix it up in yer wash, not just leave it in there in a big lump.
