Hi there!
I was looking online at a Home Brew site, and saw an item known as a Brix Refractometer. - It sounds interesting and helpful, but indicates it is only able to read alcohol ratings up to 25%. Does anyone have such a test piece, and if so, what about the range limit?
Thanks!

Ah, the great refractometer debate! The Brix scale measures sugar content--a 20 deg Brix wash has the same specific gravity as a 20% (w/w) sucrose solution. You can also buy alcohol refractometers useful up to 80% alcohol. I love mine, some people don't see the need for them (I guess nobody "needs" one, but they sure are handy.).
Purposeful motion, for one so insane...
Do you know of a good source for an alcohol refractometer with ratings up to 80%??The Chemist wrote:Ah, the great refractometer debate! I got mine from J.H. Berge ( http://www.labmart.com onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow ) , but I don't know if they sell to the general public.
