Hello, all!
I've seen various rescipes for moonshine and vodka that call for about 2lbs of sugar per gallon. I've seen others that call for 2.5lbs of sugar per gallon. Is this dependent on the yeast? If I were to use a higher alcohol producing yeast, would it require more sugar?
Basically, I'm using Lalvin EC-1118, and I want to know how much sugar to put in per gallon for optimal alcohol production.
Thanks!
How much sugar?

Hi dimes,
Yes it depends on the type of yeast. Some Turbo's can handle up to 8 kgs per 25 ltr batch. That would be about 3 pounds per gallon.
second; optimal conditions are not only the amount of sugar. Temperature, yeast nutrients and acidity also .
Read the site for accurate info.
(i'm sorry that i'm not more specific; it's 5 a.m. and i've been workin twelve hours straight
