I have been soaking a gallon of rum with a couple of handfulls of toasted oak that had already been used a couple of times. Of course its been much slower to show much color, but this has had more plesant smoothing effect than ever before.
How to duplicate this is the question.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, and them's pretty good odds.

Good job, RC! You're on the right track. All the rum guys buy used Bourbon barrels--the Bourbon guys have to use new ones each time, by law. How to duplicate? Make Bourbon!!!Rocky_Creek wrote:I have been soaking a gallon of rum with a couple of handfulls of toasted oak that had already been used a couple of times.
