i would like to know your age

maybe becouse mine is not very high

i've just become 17
anyone surprised?

i'm in the last year of the secondary school

i am the youngest one?

I originally was concerned that this post was by someone that claims to be 17 but then I looked on the internet and the legal drinking age in Belguim is 16. While the legal age to consume alcohol in Belgium may be 16, its 21 in the US. Please do not feel offended if you do not recieve alot of input or responses from the US population given that you are below the legal age in the US country.

I have refused to answer questions from people much older that you, purely because they were far more interested in "gettin' pissed quick", than actually learning about the hobby.

From your posts, it appears you have a genuine interest in beverage distilling. You will probably learn much more in a shorter space of time than many. I've spent many years training people, first in Bakeries, then Information Technology, now Distilling. I recognise talent, not by age, race, creed, or colour, but by the willingness to learn. I've had apprentices go through to be in the first 3 in State honours. I've had others I've advised to "find another interest".

Ultimately, it's your choice if you 'really' want to learn. If so, I'm sure there's a few old stagers on these forums like myself who will be willing to pass the knowledge. Much depends on how you ask the questions (so far, so good), and honesty (again, so far, so good). Welcome to a fascinating hobby.

Why do I feel like a lab rat? Are we a part of some thesis or academic survey? You'll be hard-pressed to get viable data from that (or this age thing). People do tell lies, you know; particularly when it concerns 'personal habits'

Distilling is nothing more than a separation process. It tends to concentrate substances into like groups. Many things are processed this way in life for man's use; Oil, medicines, weapons, the list is very long. Beverage alcohol is just one of them. Knowledge and learning should never be illegal, however it should be tempered with maturity and commonsense.

I certainly hope so, but only you can know that for sure. Otherwise you are deluding yourself and will never reach your true potential. Many of the great men of history started young, with an enquiring mind.

As I said, it's pretty pointless doing polls unless you have some means of verifying the accuracy of the data. However, I do have my Bio available for any who feel the need to know. It's on my website, The Alcohol Library (surely a researcher such as you can find that?).

no, sorry but last year, I made a school-thing about distilling ALCOHOL ( damn, now the whole school knows)

thank you, I got very good grades for science last week for my examinations
for phisics the best of my year. I think that's mainly caused by a huge interesse for science.

my English was very bad, you can see I think.

Well, I speak none of the low country germanic languages. I've read worse english from 5th generation anglo americans. I only speak english and spanish, and the latinos I work with must be patient for communication to be successfull.

Legal age over here is 18 for buying. Technicaly there are no restrictions in your own home and there are no restrictions on buying brewing equipment. I've always been allowed wine with a meal at home, I've been brewing since I was 14 and in drinking in bars from 15 onwards. It's given me a much more sensible attititude than many people in the UK.
I'm 34 now.

You don't drink it? Come on now, your not pulling the wool over anyones eyes, if you aren't drinking it then you must be selling it. Reminds me of Billy Clinton's "not inhaling". That guy was classic.

well, I haven't sold a ml of alcohol in my entire life

I give it away, and store (read: age) it. and I haven't made a lot of moonshine yet. but now I'm running warm.
as I'm so young, I think it's the moment to put the distillate in a barrel and let it sit there for some decades. it might be a dream, but i don't drink. so it's easy to let it stand in the basement. and there's a majeur chance I'll like it when I'm 30 years old.
