i can make an engine run on water, theoretically it will go much faster then a regular engine

Oh yes ???
Let me guess: a steam engine maybe ???

Let's be serious.
Even hydrogen isn't considered as a real fuel, because it takes so much energy to "produce" it.

Re: better way [re: Anonymous]

If you put it in a boat it will run on water. Still needs to burn gasoline though.

Theoretically how do you figure it will run faster on water?

Re: better way [re: Jeepster]

He might be confused by water injection on a diesel engine. Either that, or he invented a new engine that could save the world and is just holding out to be spiteful.

Re: better way [re: Dirk]

Yes, it takes a lot of energy to produce. However, there are some efficient methods. Adding metals and acids is wasteful, dangerous and impractical.
Electrolysis of water, though, produces 2H2 and O2. The energy required for this is easily available using a flywheel. Buses in some European countries work on a similar system.

Re: better way [re: Anonymous]

If I genereated electrical power with a "flywheel" on a moving vehicle, I sure wouldn't plough it back into an electrolysis system to make hydrogen to burn in an inefficient IC engine, I would just run a motor which has twice the efficiency.

Re: better way [re: Anonymous]

Though I admire your imagination, I would say that there is a slight, but fatal, flaw in the flywheel logic. I can't remember which of the three it is, but there's a Law of Thermodynamics that basically states that "there's no such thing as a free lunch" in energy systems. The energy to turn the flywheel is more that the energy to conduct the electrolysis.

Many have tried to make "perpetual motion machines", but they're usually getting input energy from some source they couldn't, or didn't want to, take into account. In your model, you actually wouldn't need the flywheel to power the system.......the electricict could come from an alternator / generator geared or belted to the motor, but you would still need added energy, such as what you'ld get from a hybrid engine. Alcohol - Hydrogen hybrid?

Ohhhh junk science!
My favorite!

Let me guess... you built a car with an engine that runs on water and the government came and welded the hood shut and took it away right?

Or maybe it was the evil flywheel monopoly or the secret iluminati group The Brothers Of Perpetual Motion protecting their long expired patent for a universal energy source that puts out 1000 gigawatt for 20 years on a glass of water a pizza crust and a used tea bag.

The reason that you learn not to stick around for these conversations is that next thing that usually happens is that someone is trying to persuade you to consider the health benefits of high colonic enemas and ear candles and that you must become a vegan because of how calves are raised for veal, or else they are insisting that you join them at their place of worship for a sermon that includes handling venomous snakes or playing russian roulette where everyone in the church looks almost exactly alike.

because for the most part, dumb ass dirt hippies and dumb ass dirt hillbillys believe in the exact same junk science.

I'm sorry tater, I didn't mean to offend you.
Was it my mention of inbred snake handlers or vegan gack snorters that you took exception to? cause in the future I'll surely steer clear of which ever one you are identifying with.

but know it all bluebelly yankees don't believe in junk science or preach scary nonsense the way that dirt-hippies and hillbillies tend to.
And in all honesty, the south doesn't have a monopoly on either of them.
I bet you'll find more of both in Maine than you will in any southern state you care to mention... in fact in Maine they have the market cornered on dirt-hippies who went native and turned into hillbillys.

Re: better way [re: Fourway]

Mr. Fourway,

Frankly, I'm really quite shocked. Your reply to my note was not only in very poor judgement but in poor taste as well. I come back from a business trip and find my credibility questioned?

Having sat back and seen some of your somewhat colorful diatribes, I have been taken in awe of your ability to feely verbally blindside people who openly share their thoughts or have carelessly wandered across your wavering eye of oral abuse. Further, I contend you are acting the part of a hypoctrite, having read witness to you berating those who have inserted, what you felt to be, unprofessional posts.

I do not like bullies, Mr. Fourway, and I am really beginning to not like you.

I merely tried to share my thoughts as to why such a proposition as "free energy" doesn't work. If you had taken the time to read up the chain, I did not start this thread. I am not a conspiritionalist........I do not believe in this "secret illuminati group", you toss about. I believe in science and fact, Mr. Fourway.
I am an Engineer, sir, and have held an FAA certification. Not some misguided soul who hangs out by Area 51 fences in the dark of night, or believes that Scully and Mulder do indeed know the truth is out there.
I prefer the reality of numbers I understand, sir, like if we don't design good repairs for our aircraft fleet, several hundred kind souls perish. Follow my drift, Mr. Fourway? That's the world I live in.

Though I have, what I consider (for what that's worth), a pretty well defined sense of humor and have had a good laugh a time or two at some of the dark humor on these posts, as well as contributed in the proper sections, I find your references to my consideration of "the health benefits of high colonic enemas" not only of a level my 6 year old would raise but simply just not appropriate.

I can take and give even a rather humiliating joke, but the impersonality and insulting nature of your reply (to something you had no constructive input to whatsoever, by the way), was nothing more than a "driveby spamming" of this forum.

It is Uncle Jesse's perogative to deem this type of behavior appropriate for this group. I'm here telling you it's not appropriate for me. If he deems I need to be removed from the forum, that's fine with me, as I don't know that I really want to be associated with a forum with its own resident "thug", anyway.

To put this into a mental frame you might understand, sir, let me share another gem...........Opinions are like assholes, Mr. Fourway, everyone's got one they they all stink. Mine, the next guy who posts after me, and yours too, sir.

After having read this you might be a little upset. Well, welcome to my world after having read YOUR special note upon my return. However, I will add that it was YOU that fired the first salvo across my bow, and I'm not even sure your goal was by trying to put someone down in such a manner. I have always been respectful of your right to free speach in the past, though I have not always agreed with it.

So do me a favor in the future, my friend. Choose your targets well.............. and LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE.

Regards,
BS (A "bluebelly yankee" from Illinois)

Brain Solenoid,

Take a deep breath. Although Fourway's reply looked like it was to you, I think that he was actually making fun of the post one before yours. At least that's how it read to me.

Hey, Blanch, sorry you had to read that, but I simply responded in the manner it was posted.

I read the posts over and over prior to posting my own position. Though I appreciate and admire greatly your desire to work things out, the comments were pointed at myself...........especially when you factor in the "know it all bluebelly yankee" dialogue afterward.

Take care,
BS

Brain Solenoid,

Well it was Tater that said "Blue Bellied Yankee" which he did in response to Fourway's quip about hillbillys.

Re: better way [re: Blanchy]

Yes, Blanchy, you are correct. However, when you couple the fact that the offense reply was directed at my post, with the follow-up dialogue, with no statement of retraction in between those posts and mine, I believe the fact still remains that the comments were clearly directed at myself.

You are most certainly free to debate the item, but I have made my point. I just want the right to make constructive posts without some insulting reparte occuring over this forum.

The item is closed, in my book.

BS

Re: better way [re: Brain_Solenoid]

My post was in response to the anonymous post at the start on this thread Brain_Solenoid. In fact I was agreeing with you.

When I read back over this exchange... I clearly defend "blue belly yankees" as not being believers in junk science and I am clearly involved in an exchange with tater at that point.

I just can't see how you could have worked out that I was addressing you.

I've never had a single problem with anything that you've posted as far as I can remember. I've counted you for some time among the competent active helpful core participants on this conference.

I may have detected in the past that you didn't like me very much... but I'm ok with that. I'm a big boy, I know that some people aren't going to like me. I'm not about to cry myself to sleep over it or go try to pick a fight with you.

If anything being peripherally aware that you aren't a member of the Fourway fanclub has lead me to avoid posting direct responses to you or references to your posts beyond occasionally saying that I agree with something you or you and others have said.

Perhaps you are reading this discussion in threaded mode?
If I was paying attention to threads I would have clicked on the post I was replying to rather than the last post.... but threads are largely ignored here and I use the system in the default flat mode.

I've been offline for a few days so the reason you've seen no retraction is that I wasn't here to read your post and those following it.

Here's your retraction.

I'm very sorry that you thought I was addressing you.
As I said before I cannot fathom how you could have arrived at that conclusion but I'm sorry as anything that you did.

If I could make the slightest sense of how I might have helped you to think I was talking to you I would at this point be vowing never to tread on your highly tuned sense of offense again... if it will help I will try not to ever click on the reply link on one of your posts again even if yours is the last post. I'll simply click reply on the post before yours and go about my merry way.
