Checking my "Book of Yields" 5th Edition, Francis T. Lynch (remember I am a chef) ...
Sorry UK/Euro/Aus/NZ folk, these are all AV (US) ounces, and not fluid ounces.
1 Cup of Molasses = 11.60 Ounces
1 pound of Molasses = 1.4 Cups
1 Gallon of Molasses = 11.6 Pounds
(it's nice when there are 16 Cups in a gallon and 16 ounces in a pound )
For those of you that don't know:
8 oz (fluid) in a Cup
16 ounces = 2 Cups = 1 Pint
32 ounces = 4 Cups = 2 Pints = 1 Quart
128 ounces = 16 Cups = 4 Quarts = 1 Gallon
Also for you EU and Aus folk this may be of use...
L = 1.056 Quarts (or 33.8 fl Oz)
g = .035 oz
kg = 2.2 Pounds
WHAT THE DID HE JUST SAY!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------A liter is defined as 1/10th of a meter, cubed. 1/10th meter equals 10 centimeters (cm).
10cm * 10cm * 10cm = 1,000 Cubic centimeters. So, there are 1,000 cm³ in 1 Liter. By international agreement the Liter was assigned a mass (weight) of 1,000 grams (1 Kilogram)>
The Liter is by definition composed of 1,000 milliliters. Therefore, 1 Liter contains 1,000 milimeters, each weighing 1 gram occupying 1 cubic centimeter exactly.
1 milliliter = 1 cubic centimeter (of water) = 1 gram. 1 Kiligram is equal to 1Liter of water. 1 Liter contains 1,000 milliliters and each one of those weighs 1 gram. (1,000 grams = 1 Kilo.)
