sugar wash question

I have tried the sugar wash with a can of tomato paste and I was wondering if there was anything else I could use for nutrients instead of the tomato paste. Any help is greatly appriciated.

Store-bought yeast nutrient comes readily to mind. I've also heard of various people using molasses, but of course, that would alter the flavor of your wash.

I started using molassis about 4 months ago, and it is the best nutrient I have ever found. It moves stuff right along.

I usually use 11 pounds sugar, 5 gallons water, yeast, and tomato paste. How much molassis and what kind could you recommend I use?

Brand...depends on availability. I used Breir Rabbit in my sugar wash with 5-10 lbs sugar.
Type; use blackstrap UN-sulphered.Blackstrap has less sugar than other kinds, but it has more trace nutrients.

For a 5 gallon batch, 12 fluid ounces was plenty.(I add some lemon juice, but it may not be needed.)

I added mollasses to a lot of my mashes. It helps sugar mashes like nothing else... It helps grain and sugar mash and it works all by itself too.

I mean, what possum n kato sed....

Best for sugar wash is yeast nutrient from a home brew / wine supply shop. Its cheap, clean, easy to use and measure (powder) makes clear washes, no smells etc...

Otherwise, tomato paste or yummy mollasses.

Well last night I made a 5 gallon wash with 10 lbs of sugar 12oz of malases and 1 pack of bakers yeast and a squeezed lemon. After I mixed it all up it stated to bubble like 30 mins later. When I got home today and checked it all the foam was gone and it was barely fizzing what does this mean? Also when I smelled it it was pretty harsh and it burnt my nose but all the other sugar washes with tomato paste never smelt like that. Any help is appriciated.

It was a bad smell or just "felt" like you look a wiff of straight ammonia?

Its sort of like an amonia smell but not near as strong and it is fizzing very little now.
