I've never used tomato paste, how strong can the wash be using how much tomato paste?
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, and them's pretty good odds.

I've gotten somewhere around 13% using bakers yeast and about 350mL of tomato paste per 20L. Seemed to work fine

I just made a 25 litre brew and used a 140 ml can of paste, seems to work ok.

I have a 6 liter wash going right now. 250 grams sugar, and 12ml tomato
paste per liter of wash. 12.5% alcohol right now. Should top out at
13-13.5% within a week. It's taking forever (7 weeks so far). It is
winter here and the tempurature has been less than optimal. I'm also
considering bumping up the ratio of tomato paste to 16-18ml per liter
of wash.

I have a second 6 liter wash as well. 275 grams sugar, and 12ml tomato
paste per liter of wash. I started this one before I thought about raising
the ratio of tomato paste. This one is also progresing slowly (5 weeks).
It's currently at about 11% alcohol.

Once the first one finishes, I'll use the fermenter to start another batch.
300 grams sugar, and 16ml tomato paste per liter of wash. Kind of my
own study into the suicidal tendencies of fleishmann's yeast. I want to
see just how far I can push it.

After that I have packet or two of some EC1118 to play with.
The goal is not to be cheaper. The goal is to be self sufficient.

Mine has been just on 2 weeks now, I think it's just about done, the bubbles are down to 1 per minute, it started at 8 per minute. 8)
