The American taliban
so I'm sitting here watching Texas kick OSU around the football field when I get a call from my wife. She went on a trailride with her horse and some friends and then stopped by a local bar for a couple of beers. While she walked to the bathroom she was grabbed by the TABC. thats texas alcoholic beveridge commision. They were happy and having fun and only had a couple of beers under their belts. She was told that she was drunk and going to jail unless I could come get her. She's not drunk. She was happy and having fun with her friends But these assholes act like the morality police... What the hell is happening in this country when we have government agents going into bars and pulling people out and threatening to take them to jail unless someone comes to pick them up? Welcome to the land of the free...

What the hell?
They get to drink and then be the authority on who is drunk? Seems like a recipe for some jackass to abuse power. Do they use a breathalizer?
So it's illegal to go to the bar and get drunk? I thought that was the whole point! And I thought Texas was lenient on drinking. I heard you could legally have a beer while driving as long as you were below the limit...

So did Barney Fife talk to you when you got there? The reason I ask is because you could have been lit yourself, and he could have doubled his quota in 1 swoop. If he didn't talk to you, he may have just been trolling A.K.A. lookin to get lucky, and usin his badge to work an on the spot plea bargin.
Not cool, what ever the situation.

If it was easy everybody would do it.

He talked to me on the phone and asked if I was ok to drive. (I was)
No breathalyzer, just threats to get hauled off to jail. For drinking in a bar. Not rowdy or too loud, and not drunk. Haveing a couple of beers. And this guy comes in an makes an arbitrary decision to hassle someone. No proof of anything, just a miserable shrimp dicked pig who probably has a fat squawking tick-like wife and hateful waterheaded kids. A badge and a bad attitude...

Do you know of him is a local cop? If not, ask your wife if he had an ID to go with the badge?
If it ever happens again and it more in likely wont, be polite and do as he says. Get his name and any other info about him, the names of witnesses (that haven’t been drinking is best) and make a complaint. If he won’t give it, call the cops, he may be a fake. Badges are easy to get.

That cop must suffer from SDS (small dick syndrome). I'd go with level joe if it happens again, just do as he says then report him later.
And Texas has some pretty strict alcohol laws, you can't have booze anywhere in the cab of the vehicle or you get charged with a DUI/DWI, also if you have more than 1 case of beer you can be arrested for bootlegging. I've been looking at Texas alcohol laws recently, lots of screwed up stuff.
In Texas you can make up to 200 gallons of wine for personal use, but if you make any spirits/moonshine, your ass is going down...damn the tax office

I have met some very nice folk in Texas.
I have also been pulled over and hassled just for my out of state plates.
To quote the officer from Monahan TX, :
"Our jails ain't over crowded, theys under crowded, I tell you boy, I'll have you in jail so fast your head will spin."
I've been hassled in my home state also, almost always by small town cops without any real crime in thier town.
Assholes seem to be pretty well evenly distributed throughout this country, as are the nice caring folk too.
The secret to happiness in any comunity seems to be keeping the assholes busy doing somthing other than being an asshole.
Just my humble opinion.

Thats the diference between Arkansas and Texas. Your trying to recruit people to your state. We trying to keep them out.The problem is they are "TEXICANS"
