sounds like my poor attempt to ferment raw cane juice. stuff was super sweet so i said i would give it a try. that was before i met you guys. i didnt know the juice had to be cooked. the stuff had a thick slime on the top and tasted very bitter. definently a bad experiance. what kind of wash are you trying to ferment?

Was the two row malted and crushed or just straight barley? If not malted, pouring boiling water over your grain will kill off alot of the stuff that might have caused that. Actually boiling it is even better.

First of all, why would you want to make strong stuff out of corn? That simply isn't going to happen unless you redistill several times or run through a column....either way it removes flavor and eliminates the entire reason for using corn in the first place.

The most simple way to just "make strong stuff" is to use water, sugar, tomato paste and yeast. Nothing more, nothing less....plenty of recipes and posts here on that. Redistill until you get the proof you want.

Boil the sh*t out of it to kill the nasties and start again - convert starch if you've got starch and add yeast and get it fermenting. Dont forget to measure SG to determine your sugar content and potential A/V beforehand.
