Hello fellow Squid! Let me guess you were an engine man, A-Gang division?
I'm an IC2 in the navy. I really hated cleaning those salinity cells in the evaps when I was a ICFN/IC3. Also hated calibrating the control panel everytime you guys burned up a cell!!
Well if your stuff smells like beer along with a strong alcohol smell then I venture to guess that you got some hooch and need to run it. Read the hell out of this site and the parent site homedistiller.org
If it still tastes sweet then you have some sugars that aren't used up yet, let it go longer and get a hydrometer.
Ooh Rah!

I don't mind being called a squid by other sailors. Just like most jarheads dont' mind being called one by another jarhead (marine-for those not familiar with U.S. forces calling eachother names)
I jokingly called a marine a jarhead one night playing pool at the enlisted club. Well lets just say he tried to use my head as the Q Ball. This was after all his marine buddies were had called him that all night.
And sorry if my calling you a squid offended you.
Also I have the utmost respect for marines or anyone serving in any armed forces. U.S. or abroad.
Especially you Aussies!!! I did a couple weeks on an Aussie ship doing training with you guys. Hell yeah to the bar ya'll got on your ships!!!
U.S. Navy ships have a very strict NO ALCOHOL policy on our ships.
