PID controller

Post by jdpete »

Would it be more efficient from a purity standpoint to put a PID controller on the boiler or the condensor or would it make no difference.

If you can do it for very little $$$ then I say go for it.. But only because it would be hilarious overkill worthy of applause..:) Thing is, the theoreticals have been simplified enough for a thermometer to do the trick (more theoretical "potstill-like" distillations that occur on the way up the column = higher purity.. Assuming std pressure or greater), and the cooling response time would render your kickass metrics useless anyways.. With a standard temperature vacuum still you might be able to utilize the extended precision more usefully, but to make it anything but extra effort would cost more than a few thousand dollars worth of investment, and alot of art/physics..
