Looking for a post link

Post by new_moonshiner »

I Have been looking for two nights now for a pic that someone posted showing a reflux column that had a clamp holding a small glass column to collect in .. I was looking for ideas to do that same project.. other than using plastic to run through, there seems to to be a slight degree of difficulity making something nice and steady to collect in .. I have even tried searching for just images, still no joy ..If anyone happens upon that post please post the link thanks guys Im not to lazy to search .. Im just not finding it

If, as it sounds you are talking about a tube for your condensed liquid to the collection vessel, why not just soft copper? Or rigid for that matter?

Yeah thats what im using Mt walker is copper for sure .. wouldnt think of anything else , thing is i wanted to make a small clamp that will secure a 300ml glass test tube type collection vessel to let it drip in .. i saw that pic here somewhere I have been looking at each post starting from the begining ,searching for it , I have in mind what I want to do i just wanted to see that pic again before going through with this idea....thanks Mt for the Reply :D

New Moonshiner, Again a presumption. Is this to test for % ABV? If so, why not make a copper parrot? 300ml seems to be a large volume to make accurate cuts if this is what you are aiming towards? And you wouldn't achieve a very good continuity. If I am wrong in presumption, please explain pupose.

yeah mtnwalker I probally should have explained that a little better its to hold the collection ,even though its 350ml or i know filling that for the cuts would be to large but what I have in mind is I have it marked kinda like for the volume , so I know how much I have collected , Im wanting to make a holder for it mounted close to my column if not that then I would either have to have a table sitting close to the column or a very long piece or 1/4 inch copper to reach the ground ,which I really dont want , the glass column holder would be ideal for this , since it only holds around 350ml or so I can empty it into a larger glass container ,I thought about the rsik of fire as well being it would mounted to the column just below the valve , But I dont plan on letting it out of my site once its fired up and running ..I think the picture I saw it was mounted onto a stainless steel column.. I just went thought about 100 more posts lol Im still looking though .. thanks Mtnwalker

another idea is to use a parrot. Good place to keep an alcohol hydrometer and keep track of your abv% on the fly.
