I am having great difficulty taking part in the discussion pages on this site while using my laptop. I am continually having to log in, just about every time I change to a new page. My posts always come up indicating an invalid session and thus not listed.
With my sons desk top computer I am having no troubles.
Both computers are running Windows XP
His connection is broadband, mine in NextG wireless
Is there any computer wiz out there who can advise what settings I should enable or disable or otherwise suggest where I may be going wrong?
Cheers

Do you have some sort of privacy program that deletes cookies on exit from your browser?
It is most absurdly said, in popular language, of any man, that he is disguised in liquor; for, on the contrary, most men are disguised by sobriety. ~Thomas de Quincy, Confessions of an English Opium-Eater, 1856

No, nothing fancy, both computers using Internet Explorer 7.0
I have tried disabling pop-ups to no avail
I am using AVG anti virus
I do not have to exit the site to be booted off, just change to a different post, or try to reply
Sometimes I cannot even log in

And solved mine, too.Cruiser wrote:Are you using the correct URL?
The one to use is…
http://homedistiller.org/forum/index.php
Using http://homedistiller.org/forum s seems to cause login problems now.
This was discussed earlier in http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4604 and solved my problems.

AOL
Showrguy, visitors to the forum I manage are having the same problem as you if they are using AOL. I have them login to AOL and then use IE or Foxfire and it seems to help.
I use the same software on my forums (PHPbb) as does this site and it seems to have this issue worse than some of the other forum software out there (vbulletin and a few others).
I've only had one guest that was on AOL not be able to use IE to correct the issue.
Good luck,
Tony

I still feel the problem is a cache issue with AOL. If I had AOL I would call and complain .... A LOT! They made a change that has caused this issue so they need to fix it. It worked for all those years and then over night it doesn't, makes sense to me
There are a couple of things you can try in FireFox that may help.
Click on "Edit" then "preferences"
Click on "Privacy", Come down to "Private data" and place a check in the box that says "Always clear my private data when I close FireFox". You can just leave it at that or you can click on "settings" And remove the check marks from everything but "cache" and "Authenicated Sessions". Then just "ok" your way out and close FireFox. Next time you open FireFox the change will take effect.
IE has something similar but depending on the version it could be hard to find. Most versions have it under "Tools", "Internet Options" Then click on the "advanced" tab. Look down close to the bottom under "security" and place a check mark by "empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed".
That may help.
Later,
Tony

Sounds like you need to bitch at AOL and make them fix it. I hate it when big companies make changes to their stuff that screw me up and then don't fix them. They make the changes without thinking about how it will effect users on their system. Microsoft is just as bad. I'm IT manager for 5 corporations and their little "updates" in the middle of the night have cost us thousands of man hours of work to correct. We finally turned off auto update on everything we own. I'm tired of people doing what is best for me without asking me, ya know.
Sorry about the rant but it's been that kind of morning.
Deeeeeeep breath and picture a huge glass of lemonade half full of vodka or I may get into that 18 year old bourbon I've had for so long.
Sorry I couldn't halp you.
