I am CANADIAN! looked into barrels, kinda hard to find, though might depend on where in Canada you are

What part of Canada? I'm from South-Western Ontario - ie. Not the GTA. Nothing against the GTA, just haven't been there in almost 15 years. :O

I'm just using oak strips, charred in an oven, and aging in a glass bottle. More surface area, easy to find - and I'll let you know in about 6-9 months how well it works :D
I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it left.

I have bought 3 oak kegs from 1000oaksbarrels they seem pretty good but I would like them a medium toast and they only come in light toast, but I phoned the owner and he said just to char it more myself, I am in Alberta. there is a cooperage in Oliver BC but they wanted $200 for a 23 L barrel where 1000 oaks was only 150 with shipping.
