Wakefield was struggling in game 4, runners at first and second. There's a base hit to left field and Manny gets the ball right as the runner from second gets to third base. If it's any left fielder with a respectable arm, that runner is held at third and the Red Sox face bases loaded and the bullpen coming in. Who knows what happens but if the bullpen gets them out of the bases loaded 2 out situation, the Red Sox might win that game.
Being a lifelong A's fan, I laughed when I saw that Cleveland completely disregards Manny's arm as a potential threat. He's obviously out there for his bat because his fielding and throwing are comical to me. Yet I constantly hear Boston fans talk about how Manny is the best left fielder in the game. Laughable! A good hitter, yes, but a very one dimensional player who should be DH so the team doesn't have a liability in the field.
Don't get me started on Johnny Damon's arm either. For a center fielder, he rarely gets the ball to the infield dirt on the fly and trust me, I've paid attention ever since he played center for the A's a few years back. No outfielder in the majors throws rainbows quite as gracefully as Damon.

well
gotta hand it to the Red Sox for a dominating performance. I even saw Manny make a respectable play off the left field wall with a decent throw to second. Still not what I'd call a cannon however, by any stretch.
Dominating pitching, some great timely hitting and some very good young talent developed within the organization. I never felt like Colorado was even close in any of those games. They had that "deer in the headlights" look.

Yeah your right on with the CO statement. Most folks around here are pretty amazed, but still proud, they got to the big game after the mediocre season they had.
They seem to have a good bit of talent that is very young and needs developing. If they can just stay together (insert rant about lack of team loyalty these days) they may have something in a year or 2.
Plus, I told the boys at work, with the hot streak they had, and havin 8 days off, they would get cold and not show up. I believe this can/will happen to any team, any sport. Gotta keep your groove!

If it was easy everybody would do it.

yep
Saw my A's fall apart in a few post seasons because they were just outclassed by veteran teams. I think the 8 days off combined with the shock factor of being in the World Series affected the Rockies. Also when you face Becket in Boston in game 1 there's a pretty good chance you're going to be down 0-1 going into game 2.
