Hiding your operation

Post by Sweettuff »

I have done a CONSIDERABLE amount of research to do this hobby for my own personal consumption legally. I legitimately want to do this within the laws but find the govt' revenue system and my small goals not to be compatible here in the US.

If I choose to do this illegally, I need ideas to help hide my hooch and equipment. It is unacceptable to have house, money, and things impounded because of my disagreement with the govt on free rights to produce my own beverage.

So ... what/where are places that are sneaky within a big city. Thanks

Just build so it comes apart, it's not illegal to own copper pipe (or even a copper leiberg condenser). I was under the impression that one can only be charged if caught actually using it.

How many time have I said this?

Forget your paranoia and get on with distilling. You really aren't that important. The cops have better things to do.

Or they should have anyway.

Edit: And don't tell the world about your hobby. It's egotism that gets people caught.

Idiots!

Post by Sweettuff »

I have been on this site reading, reading, and more reading.

Here is what I realize ... most of you are geniuses or complete idiots. In this case you are idiots.

First of all, none of you know who I am or where I'm at. How's this for genius, one reply was to leave it on the 'frunt' porch cause when you got something hidden, people want to know what it is. Apparently this Einstein thinks a cop/sheriff who wants to make a name for themself will ignore a still in plain site.

I guess if I just tell them it is for beer or syrup I'll be okay. The idea of telling them the dis-assembled pieces are scrap will surely disuade the raid. Again, you have no idea who I am or what I have to lose.

Some have called me paranoid ... but think MY post was entrapment.

Using a gas hot water heater to cover was the only ONE helpful reply.

This is an amazing hobby that has it all ... chemistry, creativity, danger, and an exciting end product. But I am not an idiot. Someone wrote not to do the crime if you can't do the time. Okay ... that's why I am looking for sincere help. Obviously my mistake.

Lastly, here is the (incredibly long) one sentence of the legal code in my area ... suggestions?

"According to Legal Code, bootlegging is defined as: "Any person who, acting individually, or through another acting for the person, keeps or carries on the person, or in a vehicle, or leaves in a place for another to secure, any alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer, with intent to sell or dispense the liquor, wine, or beer, by gift or otherwise in violation of law, or who, within this state, in any manner, directly or indirectly, solicits, takes, or accepts an order for the purchase, sale, shipment, or delivery of alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer in violation of law, or aids in the delivery and distribution of alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer so ordered or shipped, or who in any manner procures for, sells, or gives alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer to a person under legal age, for any purpose except as authorized and permitted in this chapter, is a bootlegger and subject to the general penalties provided Code."

Maybe I am paranoid, but its not like I can ask my next door neighbor or put an ad in the paper. Again, any ideas on hiding equipment, formenting wash(es), or end bottles?

If we are such idiots, why ask us where we hide our stuff? Are you're such a drongo that you can't figure out a good place for yourself in your OWN house?????

WE don't know your house or YOU so go figure your own secure hiding place and then tell all us idiots where there's a safe hidey hole. Shit, what a tosser.

And yes, you are paranoid, bloody paranoid in fact, or alternatively, some young cop who wants to try to make a big name for himself without doing the hard yacka.

I don't hide my gear. Whoever said to use your front porch was more than likely pulling your chain, but it isn't a bad idea in this instance

You said twice nobody knows where you're from, that made me curious.

If you sneak around to much your neighbours are gonna think you are cooking up some ice, all mine know that I make beer.

Anyone living in a single family house should be pretty safe, as long as you can keep you YAPPER shut. People in apartments might be a little more likely to get in trouble. If you can keep the odor down, you will probably do fine. However, if I were an apartment dweller, I would probably always have about 3 gallons of bottled home made beer (and some home made wine), tucked away. That should cover most of your fermenting issues (if the super finds your fermenter bubbling away).

But I agree with most other people posting on this thread. Dont yap too much, and never try to sell any of it, and you should have little to worry about.

I never said you were paranoid. Most people will impart information on the art of distilling, and that information is invaluable. Try asking a question relevant to the field we are interested in and you will get serious answers. To come into the forum and ask such a silly question and then lambast the respondents as "idiots" has identified you as someone perhaps best not to respond to.

That is a very ignorant response. By you posting on this forum I could tell exactly where you were located at the time you posted that response, just by using beginner computer techniques. So if anyone really cared they could know who you are and where you are at very easily. Just thought I would share the magic of the internet. Have a good one!

it is not to difficult to get that info off of an internet forum. i'd rather not share how to do that. dont want to educate the wrong people in that matter.
