Moonshining on TV in Aust.

Post by tracker0945 »

With all the panic of the site being out of action I forgot that I was going to mention that for those folk in Australia there is a show on the National Geographic Channel (Austar or Foxtel) tonight Sunday 6th at 7.00pm (South Aust. time) about Moonshining.
Cheers.

I've noticed a lot more show on about moonshine here in the States lately. I try to record all of them so I can watch them several time, just in case I missed something.

No probs, I think there is going to be a bit of a tie-up between moonshining and its impact on car racing but am hoping that a bit more of what we are interested in is included as well.
Sorry about there not being a bit more notice though.
Cheers.

Excellent program, I was a little to intoxicated to set up the recorder though, can anyone help with a copy?

I can't believe you guys in the States, there is still an active "Illegal Whiskey Bureau", I'm pretty sure we don't have one.

A couple of things strike me, the flow of liquor out of the still in all the footage is about a squillion times faster than mine....am I running to slow? It takes me about 3 1/2 hours for a 10% 30L wash (including boil up). The other thing is everyone seems to be using 1gallon plastic jugs.....or was that just media mistruths?

I thought the same thing Coops.
There was more flow coming out that pipe (including the odd birds nest) than comes down the river over here.
I was also astounded by the constant use of plastic tanks, bottles, hoses etc. I'm sure it must have been a beat-up. But then if it was a money making venture and they were getting lots of lead in their testing then maybe thats what happens when corners are cut.

as for the containers, it amazes me at what people will do when a dollar is involved. a guy around here got busted a coupla years back and i saw on the news where he had hundreds of new milk jugs. still rapped in plastic. bet they were a lot cheaper than glass. i wonder if you could get these guys to even drink what they sale. they probably catch thereone in the middle of the run in a glass jug. leave the rest in plastic to sale.

A friend recorded it and I watched it last night. I think they said a few times that this type of operation is meant to make shine to sell, not to drink. I'm not sure I would put that shine in my car, let alone drink it. Everyone around here sees shine like it was portrayed in the show- Hillbilly panther piss that tastes like shit.

It was nice to see a shiner get legal though, anyone remember what the brand was? I think I might have to try a bottle. :D

What surprised me about the legal guy was his quote that 'shine was best when drunk fresh not aged and his product was guaranteed no more than 30 days old.

Thats what he was inferring.
Folks who drink shine dont like drinking the old stuff he said.
Maybe we are not making proper shine?

Did anyone notice how they were sealing the hatches on those big copper stills out in the bush? I didn't pay enough attention at the time but I'm very interested to know now.

Did anyone notice this was on again tonight? I captured it on my computer so I'll try and edit out the ads and upload it somewhere for people to download.

That's it. I hope to have a copy uploaded and available to download before then. I've edited out the ads already, I just have to convert it to an xvid or similar while keeping the audio in sync

Ladies and Gents, and all in between.

I have converted my capture into an xvid and uploaded it to a public server.

I would suggest someone with a high speed connection download it first to make sure it didn't corrupt during the upload.

Right click, save as:
http://www.roaringfrog.com/InsideMoonshine.avi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Enjoy

Yes, much thanks, Froggy. I am going to wait until Coops checks the quality, and the off-peak time kicks in at my ISP. Onya, Coops, take one for the team.
