Diesel Engines

I have been looking for a diesel engine to replace my current gas one and run on WVO. I found what seems like a good deal on craigslist, but I have no knowledge of diesels. When I go look at it what should I be looking for? The ad says the pump is out on the trans is this a big deal?

You really need to have a bona-fide mechanic go with you. There is way too much to know to pick up pointers on a website. Even if you have to pay one $50 or so to go with you it would be a bargain.
