Toyota in NASCAR?

Post by Jetzon »

I'll say it. I don't like it No Sir. Even worse is I Was a Joe Gibbs Fan. A Stewart and Labonte fan. Thank God Boby's driving a Dodge at least. I cant help it, I'm a Ford fan. I own a 2001 F150 4x4 and a 2006 Ford Ranger XL. Not a lick of problem one. I have a a few friends with the new Tundra and they've been in the shop. What do I see on All Job Sites? Fords. Don't get me wrong. Chevy's and Dodges are fine vehicles too. Anything American Made is OK with me. Will it be OK in 40-50 years to drive a vehicle made by Osama Binloden? Same thing to me Pearl Harbor World Trade Center. I cant wait to see Nissan Honda Toyota Subaru Only in the Daytona 500 soon after American car company's fold due to lack of interest. Man this Burns me up! I thought the letter N stood for National? Why doest the World series play other teams from other countries? All that counts to me is when they close the bank book wheres the money at the end of the day. My money stays here. Except for my Honda Four wheeler lol and Yes I'm looking at the New Polaris. Finally making there own motors.

I cant wait until Spring Richmond! I Will have my T-shirt Saying "From those nice people who brought us Pearl Harbor"! "Oh What A Feeling"!
Shame on You Joe Gibbs! life's not just about a blank check!
Oh Yeah, I commend Jack Roush himself for Declaring War on Toyota!
Sorry Had to get that out all. Not looking forward to Daytona this year.

Well, realistically all most of the world's car companies are multinationals, and "my money stays here" really doesn't mean anythign anymore.

Here's what Ford owns:

-Aston Martin (SALE PENDING)
-Ford
-Jaguar
-Land Rover (bought from BMW)
-Lincoln
-Mazda (Ford owns 33% of Mazda)
-Mercury
-Volvo cars

As you can see the majority is "foreign".

Jetzon, I understand what you are saying about Toyota. I am not crazy about it myself but like Aidas said most cars are multinationals. Look at Dodge/Chrysler's, Part of that company is owned buy a German company.
I drive a ford myself and was shocked when I looked on the inside door sticker and is said Maid in Canada. Some of the GM cars are made in Mexico and shipped back hear to sell. At least Toyota has plants hear in the USA. I am saddened but this also and opening up the door to Toyota I can see in the future Honda ect coming in...

I hear what your saying Aidas and I know my truck has parts from Mexico but it was made in Norfolk VA. I live in a small town, I work in the city but I shop local and do my best to stay out of Wal mart. Hell we have a little hard wear store thats been here for over a hundred years and they Have everything. Might pay 5 cents more but whats that for tradition. I hope nobody here thinks I started this blog to argue or fight about who makes a better vehicle. I was just wondering what you all thought about the first foreign car in nascar.
What do you drive Aidas?

I used to drive a Saturn SL back when I was a student in the U.S. Great car -- couldn't have been happier with it.

Now I drive a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (jeep-type) Turbo Diesel and a Chevrolet Aveo.

The chevy is, of course, built in South Korea. :)

We don't build cars in Lithuania, so we don't have any bred-in-the-bone brand allegiance, so we can cheer on pretty much any team we choose ;)

I'm a Formula 1 fan, so I don't know much about Nascar, but I do know that the cars that run in F1 have very little to do with cars produced by the same companies that make consumer market cars, i.e. the Ferraris, Renaults, Mercedes and Toyotas in F1 have NOTHING to do with those we could (theoretically) buy. Engine concieved of in Italy, Germany, France or Japan, parts taken from subs from all over the world, brakes made by subs somewhere else, etc.

The F1 teams are like America's Cup teams -- totally multinational and totally profit driven... they're not representative of a nation... just like Ford or any other "U.S." car company is not. Car companies bear their allegiance to profit, to tax benefits and to subsidies, not to nations, or governments.

I do, however, totally understand the benefit of buying local. That said, the nuts and bolts you buy in the local hardware store are the same chinese bolts you would buy at Home Depot, just a touch more expensive. The only thing you can really feel good about is that you're supporting a local enterprise, i.e. the proprietor.

I know Bsnapshot. I guess I'm a little old fashioned. I do service work and a lot of it is in some of these retirement communities. Most were in the service and retiring from it. I had more then a few comment me on driving an American vehicle and respect and agree on my thoughts. Even though I know they have money I give all residents in those communities a Very nice Discount and a much longer warranty on my services. Its all about respect to me. You don't see many of them driving anything but American made and those that do drive foreign made didn't do any service time. I wish now I did and any of you here that have. I truly respect that and hats off to you all.

Getting off subject here but I have a Home Owner that joined the Navy when he was 16 and was in D day at 17! I thought he was pulling my leg a little but he asked if I wanted to see a picture. He went and got a book called children in war? Something like that and there he was with his picture and B-day. Only one other guy was younger then him, Just by a few months. he said he just met him a few years ago at a Navy reunion.

Think about that. What were you doing at the age of 16. He was at war on a battle ship!

Makes me proud to drive American made and shop at my local little stores. I'm a small business owner and I understand why its important to support the little guys.

Just my own thoughts.

I'd say the a very large percentage of soldiers fighting wars around the world right now are children.
Ain't nuthin to be proud of, i think we should be ashamed to let it happen.
Seein as how we're discussing political, or worse still, nationalistic views.

Jetzon,

I agree with you. I like to support my local business and the owners. I always seam to get better service from them. I have a guy close buy that has a auto shop and only one other guy who work for him but the service is good he gives me a fare price. Much better than the big chain places. A few months ago I went in there with some break problems on my car no appointment but one person was there fro an oil change and he took me next. My car was on the rack and then an older lady cam in with a flat. He asked if he could just fix her tire first and then go back to mine, it was fine with me. All in all fixed my breaks, a Lady's tire and finished a oil change and I was still only waiting 90 minutes. If I went some ware else it would have been a all day thing.

Even with Toyota in NASCAR I still can not wait until Sunday and the start of the racing season. I am a Matt Kenseth fan but I do like a lot of other drivers. I an getting together with a bunch of friends for the race and good food and drinks.

And its gut wrenching thinking about it. Have you seen that movie Blood Diamond? Also that Nicolas Cage movie? Something war? Its about a guy that got into the Illegal gun sales in the 80's based on a true story. Selling AK 47 rifles, What ever you wanted he could get. He's selling armor to who ever. Showing little kids in South Africa fighting like men. So Sad and So true.

I cant even watch the news, I swear I get depressed. Such a violent world and all for what?

I know this is a subject that should probably never be brought up here Like at a bar. But almost, if not all wars have been fought over religion.
What the F and why? Sad Sad Sad world we all live in.

Is there a No Politic No Religion allowed rule here? Its a Big No No in bars around here. Starts to many fights.

I personally don't care what brand of engine is under the hood of anything. If I can get a wrench to it, it'll run like a dog with its ass afire 8)

How Amazing would that be for JR winning the cup this year after all this Drama He's been threw!
I think its time for little E to take that cup home.
Check out the color pattern on my Jack Russel pup. I just saw this a week ago or so. Its hard to get a Jack pup to sit still even harder to take a picture!
Do you see what I see? He has an 8 and each side of his back. Maybe its a sign! lol Doesn't look as good on pictures.

Here is a link to a short video clip referencing Toyota's and trickery.

I drive a 1999 Crown Victoria as my primary transportation - it is the last car made with a full frame under it, I also have a 1975 Datsun 280Z that I am restoring.

Restrictor plates still piss me off WAY MORE than 'Yota joining the fray. Let racers race, not pussy foot around the track like some sort of twisted, steel puppet show. Everytime I think of a foreign racing team, I am reminded of the sign near Talladega on I-20 welcoming the Japanese and their "new" Honda plant. The times they are a changin'.
