ive always cut my brew to 40% then done all my diff flavours either be an essence or done buy useing chips.
but was wondering if any-one has flavoured or aged before cutting back.
most of my brews come out at 80% then i cut it back to 40%.

I do believe most people age at about 60-65 abv. So, depending on what you are making, and what type of still you have then you can decide. If you have a pot still (or reflux that you can adjust i guess) you can pull around 120 proof (60%) and then age at that. Once aged, then cut it down to 40 for some sippin'. 120-130 proof is the preferred aging proof though, i do believe

I tried to essence flavor some at 80% abv and it didn't flavor so well...I think my next essence flavor attempts will be between 40% and 60%...I have some single distilled ujsm on oak @ 60% abv right now.

ive got a reflux still and make a neutrul spirit and the flavour according to what i want to drink.
most of the time i use an essence and chips together with oak and age at 40%.
