Re: How's the weather?
Its been in the 60s here with alot of rainy days, and a few sunny ones in the lower 70s.We are up this year on rainfall by 195%,but havent really had the flooding that alot of people in the area have had.The woods are thick as Ive ever seen them, and everything is growing like hell.
I am afraid that when it gets hot,the skeeters are going to be bad.

supposed to hit 101F here at the distillery today, with winds 20-25 mph at the moment. pretty scary fire hazard conditions. also pretty scary being in this distillery with the boiler and still going, damned warm.
If only the best birds sang, the woods would be silent.

Hasn't got cold here yet, although there's some showers forecast for the w'end so might bring the long pants outa the cupboard after the rain. Usually starts the frosts off.

Partly cloudy to clear, mid-80's. Ten inches of rain the last two days, the bayou behind my house is threatening, and not likely finished filling...

Re: How's the weather?
Yeah Chemist my rain gauge over flowed. Nice now though, gonna have to get a 4 wheel drive John Deere mower to cut the yard any time soon. It's nice now though just muggy. The Chemist wrote:Partly cloudy to clear, mid-80's. Ten inches of rain the last two days, the bayou behind my house is threatening, and not likely finished filling...
15 gallon pot still, 2"x18" column with liebeg condensor on propane.
Modified Charles 803 w/ 50gal boiler, never ran so far.

I haven't been bothered by the skeeters yet but the ticks are everywhere already, both the regular ones and the tiny deer ticks (lyme disease is always a worry).wineo wrote:Its been in the 60s here with alot of rainy days, and a few sunny ones in the lower 70s.We are up this year on rainfall by 195%,but havent really had the flooding that alot of people in the area have had.The woods are thick as Ive ever seen them, and everything is growing like hell.

Re: How's the weather?
Humidity and temperature are starting to drop to comfortable levels, and the SE winds are becoming regular, as is normal for this time of year in northern Oz. Best time of year coming up. When all our southern Oz brothers and sisters are freezing their special bits off, we get pleasant sunny days, warmish, with low humidity. Excellent camping weather.

We got some rain last night. That makes 0.5" this month. The average - in the days we used to get rain - is 2.25".

Re: How's the weather?
hail and high winds blew threw here the other night. It was low 90's in the day and the thunderstorm that followed was intense. I was driving home from work early in the morning and the sky was filled with every color of lightning. Many windows are blown out in town and many many dented cars from the hail... gotta love golf ball sized chuncks of ice falling from the sky.

Re: How's the weather?
Hit the lovely temperature of 103 two days in a row. That is almost the temp of hell when you walk outside and are greeted by the sauna hot air. Highest I ever saw was 116 two years ago.

Re: How's the weather?
Here in the SE we always hear about the temps out west being "Dry heat" as opposed to our extremely high humidity.Hit the lovely temperature of 103 two days in a row
So, I guess 103 only feels like 102?

Re: How's the weather?
no offense to our Southern boys but this is why I can't live in the south, right here. When you walk outside and the 20 mph wind heats you up instead of cooling you off and when you have to roll your t-shirts off, it's too miserable for this boy.wineo wrote:Theres nothing like 102f with 98% humidity.Nothing!
I'll take 110F with no humidity over 95F with high humidity.

It was a steam bath.I dont live there anymore, but we get 90s with that kind of humidity in the summer here on the ohio river.

It is the humidity that is the killer, not the temps.
The last two days have gotten a lot drier and cooler here. The nice weather is just about hit. Tropical winter. Bewdiful.
