I hear it's been a few years since any big corn ethanol plants were built. From what I've heard new construction of these has stopped. I'm not saying none are in current construction, but from what I understand the price of corn is quickly pricing itself out of the "cheap fuel" market. And since corn/maize is a subsidized crop here in the States, many farmers have dropped other crops in favor of corn the last 2 years which is raising prices for other produce.Tideliner wrote:DestrutoMutt wrote:

Been ppl stealing used vegi oil for a LONG time. Most ppl do not realize that if you take it out of the dumpster, you ARE stealing it, even if you talk with the restaurant manager and get his OK. The only legal way to get it, is to provide your own containers, 55 gallon barrels, dumpsters, or have the kitchen staff put it back into cubes that you pick back up. I like to get it put back into cubes, and pick up each week. That way, it does not get rain in it, which has to be dried out. But nothing pisses me off more than heading on a bi weekly trip to some of my better restaurants, to find that even though they put 35-40 gallons of hi quality into my barrels, someone has siphoned out 95% of what was there (and usually leave the lid off, so there is a dead bird and some trash in it

It's only about over for the ones who aren't in the upper financial tiers. Which I think is gonna cause a whole nother form of class envy. In the US at least, a poor man can't afford a hybrid or electric car, you gotta stick with gas cars and pay the higher fuel prices. I still think Hydrogen is viable with a little more research and development behind it.
