Condenser water recirculation

Post by vajravarahi »

Here are some links to pics of the condenser water recirculation system I have. Basically a 30 gallon plastic tank holds the water and a 5 gallon bucket of ice. There's a bulkhead through the wall of the barrel with pipe to a pump. Originally there was just a gate valve on the exit side of the pump, but I was having to turn it practically to "off" to keep the water in the condenser (a worm coil in a bucket) from overflowing. So it became necessary to add more control over the flow and a bypass so the water I didn't need went directly back to the holding tank. The pump is a BlueLine 30.

I must admit I didn't do all this work. Mostly I bought the parts  I have a friend who's very competent at all kinds of construction including plumbing, and it was better to trade. Otherwise if I had done the work there would have been floods and much foul language to offend those within earshot.

Very tidy work, Vaj, similar to my setup, but i use a submersible 12v bilge pump and two linked tanks.

I think it really helps the longevity of these small pumps to have a diverter valve taking the excess and removing as much pressure as possible. 8)
