Various low brass in HS, guitar in college, piano since 3rd grade... and in fact, I'm making something of a second career as a piano technician!! (no grief, please, I get enough, even though I only have THREE pianos at the moment...in various stages of disassembly... :D )

I used to play a guitar and was into the folk singing thing back in the early sixties, but my fingers don't work the way they used to so I gave up the guitar. Some of the events in the late sixties (gunfire, explosions) have made me a little hard of hearing (high frequency loss) but the good news is that I don't need a really good stereo system.

I play the guitar electric and acoustic, do a bit of singing, play bass, goof around on drums. I had a blues/rock band for about seven years that played around the area. We gave it up around last christmas, but some of us just got together tuesday to do some playing. That felt really good. We'll see where that goes.

I've been trying to give up guitar playing and singing for years. Whenever I got nothin' to do it seems to find me. My grown children won't let me forget it either. Every time they're home for a visit they've got requests. The buggers bought me a limited edition Guild when I retired this past June. They said they thought I'd get bored. Now I got no excuses so I've even started learnin' some new material. All that country twanggggggg stuff. Funny thing is when I listen to music it's generally jazz and blues but when I play it's usually country or early R&Roll.

I sorta play drums. As long as it's punk rock, basically, so I can go fast enough to hide my brutal mistakes.
Never took any lessons or anything, just jammed with some friends for a while.

I've got 3 guitars, an Ashton classical, F65 Fender 1973 model (it's an exact copy of a D28 Martin) and a Washburn X10 electric, I don't play for audiences but I enjoy but I enjoy doing it for myself.

5 String Banjo: Clawhammer and Bluegrass
Bit of harmoinca

Believe it or not I have a didgeridoo, that I try to play. I was browsing a used book store one day and came across a book on playing them and it intrigued me. I bought a CD to see what they sounded like, and I fell in love with the sound, so bought one. (I often listen to that CD while driving in heavy traffic, it has a great calming effect) Can't make it sound anything like the CD, sounds awful when I try. But I keep trying and hopefully someday......

I had this idea that it I would make banjo recording, then do an overlay with the didgeridoo as the bass accompaniment, and then bones as the percussion. My wife often suspects my sanity....I think she stays around just out of curiosity.

Blanik says you gotta suck and blow at the same time to play the didgeridoo. You mastered that talent yet?

Suck and blow at the same time is called 'circular breathing', a common musician trick to allow for a continual sound with no breaks.
Get a big mouthful of air, close off the back of your throat and while continuing to blow through your lips, breathe in through your nose.
No joke. Try it, you can do it as long as you don't blow too quick.

Cheers.

 just watching all you folk trying this right now. (even the drummers)

I used to take my lessons from this guy. He has the circular breathing down cold. The guy is amazing!

Got the circular breathing down, could be a little faster but I can play continually... The trick is to not think about it and just learn to play as long as you can on a single breath first, then circular breathing is way easier!
