bought 10 gallons of black strap
Ok just got home from the feed mill bought 10 gallons of black strap. Now I can only find 48-0-0 around here. When i asked the guy at the feed and seed store down the road he said where did you come up with that number(20-0-0). I himhawd around about i read it somewhere. So what im asking is can i use half the amount of the 48-0-0.

Hi,
First time poster.
In regards to your question about 48-0-0, this is basic Urea. I am just in the research stage of doing this recipe and I have found I can only source that as well. Now, someone has told me that for it to be 48-0-0 it has to be mixed with water to be at that ratio. So what you have to find out is how much water has to be added to get 48-0-0 and then work out from there how much more water is needed to make it 20-0-0, if that makes sence. I have only found this info out today, so I will still check the validity of the info.
I am considering leaving it out completely as I am a bit iffy about having Urea in my brew, although many have used it before, I would prefer an alternative.
If someone could shed some light...
Cheers

Sully you can go "organic" nitrogen is found in root vegetables as beets and I think in leafy green as lettuce, check them out first
( some people laugh when they see in some old recipes call for a chunk of "horse meat " but that contains nitrogen and amino acids both good)
