Aluminum and plastic...lovely.
Interesting read though. Perhaps enough of these "culinary" types and other high brows will change the perception to acceptance?

Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

Ain't ever gonna happen.......the revenue raised from liquor is far to great, I'm afraid we will always be on the wrong side of the law.

It is most absurdly said, in popular language, of any man, that he is disguised in liquor; for, on the contrary, most men are disguised by sobriety. ~Thomas de Quincy, Confessions of an English Opium-Eater, 1856

If rep Bart from Michigan keeps putting it out there, it may get slipped through. We can always hope.
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.
Valved Reflux, 3"x54" Bok 'mini', 2 liebig based pots and the 'Blockhead' 60K btu propane heat

I just remember f-1 and crap like that was high brow "champagne" people and they looked down on us lowly "stock car bums".
Now, years later, compare revenue streams from f-1 and nascar. Guess where the big bucks are??
If the f-1 types decide to dabble in extentions of their culinary craft to amuse and entertain their guests, one never knows as to where it will lead.
Then it would be "haute couture" to make "personal liquor".
"Why yes senator, I DID make this myself, glad you like it"

Re: Urban Moonshiner
not sure I want to see everyone out there running a still in their basement. there are a lot of dumb people who'll burn their house down, or worse someone elses house, and insurance will refuse to cover it.
I think it ought to be legalised, but must be done outdoors or in a dedicated building (away from your residence). You should need a licence which you can only get after taking a sanctioned course teaching how to safely distill (like you need for a hunting licence). And your still setup and product should be avaliable for inspection by the authorities to make sure you're not selling. and finally, limit the size of a boiler you can have legally, for example a 25 gallon boiler ought to be big enough for anyone for their own personal use, but too small for commercial production.
I think these are reasonable things to expect.
